Mr. Mani..

Farmers.. right they are suffering.. but right now, we are in an equally pitiable situation..

First of all lets see if by the end of five years we'll be able to "cook" rice and then eat it and while eating it think of farmers [:P] I can only wish for that at the rate at which the prices our essential commodities like gas and petrol are rising!

Agriculture is not really a fetching business compared to others. Moreover too many people in India(up to 65%) depend on it, compared to <10% in developed countries, which doesn't even add to 1/5th of the GDP. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_India#Agriculture) Farmers having very less lands cannot earn much from it and end up in losses. Will any one lend money to someone who cannot afford to pay it back?

If you want better income and standard of living you have to do something better than the common Joe!

Govt. giving so many subsidies to farmers isn't good either, keep aside who is benefiting from it. Govt. hopes at least some part of it goes to the real needy. If a farmer could pay his loans back, isn't that a good sign? What are you cribbing so much about it?

Yes, I agree govt. shouldn't be setting the rates for goods, but in a conservative economy like us it is needed.

P.S. Could we use proper English on this blog?

hey! well, i agree wid u on the exploitation bill of the government, but this can be seen in every sector... take for instance the up-coming mega-marts like reliance-fresh and spencer's. it puts out of work the local small shopkeepers, when the consumer gets better products. the profits, of course, are pocketed by the government and by the multi-million rupee companies whoz owners blows a wad of cash on a private plane for his wife...
