MOVIES..............IN INDIA

If u do see a flying hero or an unnecessary song sequence in any of d channels or in a trailor u can really bet dat its frm some indian movie as we are so famous for this.Wat shud a movie contain this was a question asked 2 directors all over d world.Americans said action and drama, French people said art and music, Spanish said art and love, and it just went on and on finally our INDIAN just said this we just need one mom one sister and one dying father.Dats basically covers all genre s of movies in INDIA,In all movies there will be a bad guy who wud hav been some relative 2 d hero's family but he is cunning blah blah and he is damn nasty etc but finally he will change after d heroes words this is a summary of any movie. With some diff in characters and screenplay, with a sexy song sequence(AHEM AHEM)(CROWD PULLER) dats where d heroine makes one proper apperance in d movie, sorry not an appearance its generally a disappearance of dress. She wud be a gud homely gal till d scene b4 dat but after dat wallah she is d next pamela anderson in d next scene, and we still accept it and d worst part this formula has been there in d movies for d past 50 years and still its accepted all over d nation i dont kno whether this is wrong or right but it has created a unique genre in INTERNATIONAL MOVIES.THis mite be d only place where d stars are worshipped more dan GODS and GODDESSES dere are more FAN CLUBS dan temples or mosque or church or all put together. And Music is generally d one which people need in d movie as dats d only part in which dey can rest for a while hav a puff and go 2 d loo etc and realize freedom untill d next scene comes as all d songs hav d same sequence d hero goin behind d heroine blah blah blah.now comin 2 romatic movies its just one liner first d hero proposes and GF disposes but after somedays d gal falls in love with him again.GR8 NA......,Then the heroes are d ones who never change and dey are accepted as a college student even if he is 70 yr old.Its easy 2 make a movie in INDIA all u need is a pack of 15 actors and a house dats it u need not hav any story..........hope this shit changes
PLZZZZZ GROW UP
OM SHANTI OM is not a movie plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz GROW UP
DONT ALLOW DEM 2 GROW
and for all aspiring directors DONT WATCH INDIAN MOVIES
ATLEST DEN WE HAV SOME CHANGE
V NEED A CHANGE

Hello :)

My mental make-up prevents me from keeping my trap shut. lol.Proceed to the next point only if you agree to the current one. If you don't, then the verdict is clear: the following points hold no value to you. Simple. Shall we start?

I agree that 'Indian' movies are composed of pretty much the same old formulaic stuff, but there are a few good ones too. Agree?

If we chuck the song-dance routine and the cliched good v/s evil formula, the movie is no longer Indian. That is our style of movie making. Thats what the common man likes. Thats why they still rake in the moolah. Agree?

Movies are supposed to transport us to a world of make believe. Generate the whole larger than life image, make us wish that we were a part of it. We have SO many problems in our normal life: Why see them again on the screen? :)
Ya. there are movies which do discuss socially relevant issues and we need formulaic movies to add a little spice. We all like that little masala in our food, don't we? Agree? :)

Item numbers: Well, sometimes they do get out of hand, but Indian men are horny bastards (well most of them) and they expect some titillation for the money invested. Necessary evil, i'd say. Agree?

An average spanish movie is like a soft porn movie. Its true. While an average american movie is also a soft porn apart from being highly mindless.(Its only a small percentage that are classics and awe-inspiring). They aren't unique. Atleast our brand has a proper definition. Agree?

I loved OSO. Felt it was worth my money. Atleast for one watch. It didn't bore me at all. Those who didn't. Well you should accept the fact the you are an anomaly, cause the box office collections indicate otherwise. Don't watch such movies if you don't like'em. Stay clear. There are many, like me, who still enjoy good desi cinema.

Cheers :)

see. i am for the co-existence of both masala and the non-masala ones. :) too bad that it will take a while before the average cine freak will embrace other genres and actors.

Hey,
dont get me wrong here, i kinda agree with u at some level about ur frustration with the way our movie industry works, but dont u think its evolving on some level? atleast the hindi film industry is.
Bad movies do exist and will always, its not like all the countries u mentioned here do not hav their share of bad/cliched cinema, its just that we know more about our bad ones than them.
Also most of the comments that you've made,i cant help but feel are more rampant in the tamil movies than hindi movies these days.but i guess the makers know the sensiblities of their target audience and make them accordingly and at some level, the hero worshipping, item numbers , unnecesary "comedy" tracks still work here more effectively.
just a perspective, no offence :)
and i kinda enjoyed OSO : just for its abrashed nature, full masala experience about which at no point was i disillusioned and totaly worth my money
:D

It was a nice post :)
well i agree about the indian movies sticking to a winning formula but you should see that some different and really good movies creep into the big screen once in a while. And if you like such movies watch and enjoy them, why think on how the nation responds and if you dont like dont watch.

Dude,ur blog is jus superb....U haven't mentioned abt great movies lik TAshan n Race....Guess ppl wud hav undestood d formula b'hind the so called "success"of these movies.....:-)N ppl those who believe dat OSO was really fantastic was nothing but made them understand wat bollywood movie makin is..

N on the other hand,in place lik our Talim movie industry, ppl r greatly supporting the growth of veteran actors lik the great TR,n creating awareness about the importance of disappearing wildlife in our country...Really educative stuff man, shud really promote dem...

hmmm i donno y d film makers go around a same format to make a movie... particularly indian movie to b very spl tamil movies are full of sentiments... as u said a dying father or mother hero a goody goody person & the villain changing his character towards the end of the movie... the funniest part is that ppl still are crazy to see those movies...

gone are those days... now we really need a change..
